Anorexia
German, Günter/, HSeidler, 2013Product details
Anorexia is still hardly treatable. In girls and young women, it is seen as an expression of their refusal to become adult and feminine. However, this widespread notion is too simplistic and is therefore questioned in this volume. Based on clinical experiences, the complex relationships underlying this illness are elaborated on a scientific basis. The contributions presented here address the different forms of the disorder from the perspectives of various therapeutic schools, with models for theoretical understanding and possibilities for therapy. Instead of aiming for a quick cure, the authors emphasize the necessity of first developing a comprehensive understanding of the concerns of individuals with anorexia in order to provide them with appropriate treatment. Contributions by Monika Becker-Fis.
