Anthony George Hopwood (May 18, 1944, in Stoke-on-Trent; May 8, 2010) was a British scholar in the field of accounting. Hopwood primarily researched the intersection of accounting and behavioral sciences. For example, he demonstrated how information from accounting is used for performance evaluation and the effects this has on stress as well as relationships with supervisors and colleagues. Through his work in this field, he became the first editor-in-chief of the prestigious journal "Accounting, Organizations and Society" in 1976, a position he held until 2009.
