This study addresses the compatibility of English anti-suit injunctions with European civil procedural law. It first traces the development from the origins to the modern manifestation of anti-suit injunctions in England and then provides an overview of the legal situation worldwide. In the main section, the author examines the case groups in which prohibitions on legal proceedings are applied within the European legal framework. He engages comprehensively with the controversially debated discussion regarding their compatibility with European civil procedural law and presents targeted proposals for action. Finally, possible alternatives to the use of anti-suit injunctions are outlined to resolve the existing conflict and further develop the legal situation.
