Product details

Antisemitism is a current problem in Central Europe. However, it is not a constant of European humanity, but rather a phenomenon that emerged in a specific historical context. As a political attitude, social practice, and ideological orientation, it manifested itself and invoked the tradition of Christian anti-Judaism for legitimacy. Arising during the socio-economic upheavals of the 'long' 19th century, antisemitism at the end of this era was an expression of cultural crisis. It became a critical movement against civilization, blaming Jews for all societal conflicts and insecurities. The collapse of old Europe due to World War I and the devastating moral consequences of the war's defeat led to a radicalization of antisemitism.
