Aphasia is a fundamental change. It alters everything: life status, life plans, value systems, and priorities – indeed, the perspective on life itself. The phrase "Afterward, everything is different!" is terribly banal, yet there is no more accurate description. However, this "banality" can only be truly grasped by those directly affected. Outsiders can hardly comprehend it at all because they cannot imagine the changes involved. How could they, when they know nothing about the devastating effects of aphasia? Therefore, the authors aim to address the most important issues related to life situations affected by aphasia, to demonstrate how aphasia intervenes in and changes the lives of all those affected. They want to highlight these issues so that outsiders and professionals can empathize, and above all, they want to encourage fellow sufferers to seek information.
