Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face particular challenges in factory planning projects, as opposed to large companies, they do not have their own planning departments, resulting in a lack of planning expertise and limited ability to leverage economies of scale in projects. This dissertation develops a methodology for cross-company factory modular development for SMEs, with the aim of sustainably reducing the efforts involved in factory planning projects for SMEs.
