The machining of lead-free Cu-Zn alloys, which are increasingly used due to the harmful effects of lead, is characterized by lower productivity, process reliability, and cost-effectiveness compared to lead-containing alloys. Therefore, this study investigated the cause-and-effect relationships in the machining of lead-free Cu-Zn alloys and represented the findings in empirical models for tool and process design for turning operations.
