In times of increasing competitive pressure, adherence to deadlines, as a result of good logistical process management in the production of diverse machinery and plant engineering, is a valid indicator of high profitability. As delivery times continue to shorten, the coupling of production process steps becomes tighter, making it increasingly challenging to achieve high deadline adherence and the necessary stabilization of the order processing process, as the options for balancing capacity supply and demand diminish. Therefore, the author addresses the area of action to expand short-term capacity balancing through outsourcing individual manufacturing orders. This is particularly based on the theory of flow diagrams as a suitable explanatory model to visualize and calculate deficiencies in capacity balancing.
