Through event-oriented architecture as a style, enterprise architectures become more agile, responsive, and capable of real-time processing. The foundation for this is an exact specification of the events to be processed. In this work, an event model is developed as the basis for production control, based on state data in discrete manufacturing. The event types at various hierarchy levels are described, and their interdependencies are quantitatively represented through rules.
