Product details

The increasing dynamics in global procurement markets present new challenges for supplier management in mechanical engineering companies. The implementation of hierarchical supply chain management concepts, which have been successfully used in other industries for decades, fails in mechanical engineering due to the resistance from often significantly larger suppliers. As a B- or C-customer, these companies lack the purchasing power necessary to enforce these concepts with the majority of their suppliers. Therefore, the aim of this work is to further develop the coordination processes in mechanical engineering through cooperative supplier management, enabling effective supplier control for medium-sized mechanical engineering firms. To this end, four coordination instruments are developed in this work. The first instrument is described by the author.
