The tool manufacturing industry in high-wage countries is undergoing a phase of intense change. This transformation is driven by two trends: globalization and derivative processes. They are altering the conditions for tool production. In order to continue offering an attractive proposition to globally purchasing customers at high-wage locations in the future, the industry must redefine its service offerings. This means that in the future, technologically advanced and high-quality tools must be produced in shorter lead times, with high adherence to deadlines, through economical and competitive processes, despite increased product complexity. In addition to the higher quality of the products, the focus is shifting towards the higher quality of the processes. Ensuring the higher quality of processes in tool manufacturing is challenging to implement.
