With the help of a control system, even complex manufacturing processes can be safely operated at their limits. This work employs a model-based predictive controller for force control during milling. The controller is designed with respect to technological and economic requirements. By predicting the behavior of the control loop, changing input variables can be taken into account early, ensuring that overload conditions are safely prevented and minimal process main times are achieved.
