The aim of this dissertation is, among other things, to develop and validate a method for determining process-related heat input. The heat input was derived from geometry, measured expansion, and material data. The finite element simulation of this test workpiece achieves a very good agreement with the measurements. The influence of parameters on heat input for drilling was assessed. The findings were transferred to a housing, drilling operations were simulated, positional errors were analyzed, and compared with measurements.
