Before they encountered the wolf in the Canadian wilderness, everything was pretty much fine for Paula and Billy. One day before Paula's birthday, they find themselves in their old VW hippie bus, caught in a snowstorm on an endless road heading north. With no one else on the road, Paula spots a wolf lying injured, half-starved, and shivering from the cold at the roadside in the snow. Having always wanted a dog, Paula decides to take the young wolf with her. Billy, on the other hand, just wants to get to warmth as quickly as possible. Wolf or no wolf, that is the question, and it is answered when Billy grabs the wolf and stows it in the back of "Lipstick." From that moment on, nothing is as it once was. Together with "Dusty," they travel across North America for two years, from Alaska to Guatemala.
