The significance of architecture for the individual and social life of people is comparable to that of medicine or politics. Nevertheless, the actions of architects have rarely been examined from an ethical perspective until now. There is a discrepancy between the actual importance of the built environment for humans on one hand and the ethical reflection on its creation, conditions, and impacts on the other. The actions of the architect represent a "blind spot" for ethicists; conversely, ethics is largely "terra incognita" for architects. This book aims to help fill the outlined gap and contribute to the development of an ethics of the built environment. Accordingly, it explores the relationship between architecture and morality and the activities of architects from a moral standpoint.
