The Berlin Marathon celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. From a small fun run in 1974, it has now developed into one of the largest running events in the world, with over 40,000 participants. It has also been celebrated in literature by panting runners, cheering spectators, and quiet observers. This book gathers over 30 texts of various genres from 40 years of marathon history, literally from the course. Among the authors are Hajo Schumacher, Günter Herburger, Arno Surminski, Manfred Steffny, Klaus Weidt, and the all-time finisher Bernd Hübner.
