The following attempt to introduce "Capital: Critique of Political Economy" by Karl Marx differs from previous attempts primarily in that it aims to facilitate, rather than replace, its reading. A fitting motto could be: Suitable only for readers of Capital! It is intended to introduce beginners—not to established doctrines, but to their formulation. Even though, unlike during the formative period of these lectures, which was heavily influenced by the great 68 movement, reading Capital is not a mass phenomenon, the immediate reality of a socially unbounded capitalism makes it clear to the more perceptive among the emerging intellectuals that without the ability to think about capitalism, no seriously relevant thinking of this time is possible.
