The three-volume work features, among other things, color photos from Benito Mussolini's state visit, the memorial march commemorating the coup of November 9, 1923, and the swearing-in of SS recruits at Odeonsplatz in Volume 1. In Volume 2, we see images of the Brown House, follow the opening of the House of German Art, and the festive parade "2,000 Years of German Culture." Volume 3 documents, for example, the state funerals for Colonel General Eugen Ritter von Schobert in 1941 and for Gauleiter Adolf Wagner in 1944. In between, we visit the nearby Ordensburg Sonthofen and attend a press reception at the Munich Künstlerhaus. We witness the aftermath of the Allied terror bombings and follow the fate of the city under American occupation.
