Consuming mate is an extremely popular habit in many parts of Latin America, especially in the cities of the interior. In other parts of Latin America and in Europe, mate is consumed more within established circles. In Germany, mate is sold in almost every supermarket as tea bags and in many third-world shops as Brazilian yerba.
