A brutal murder shakes Nuremberg. The well-known chairman of ProNuremberg, Hubert Pelzig, is found with a crushed skull in the Augustinerhof, and Frank Beaufort is the last person to have seen him alive. Together with the determined BR journalist Anne Kamlin, he conducts his own investigations, against the wishes of the police. However, their inquiries do not go unnoticed, and Frank Beaufort soon finds himself in mortal danger.
