Product details

Artworks are a preferred means of political, social, and cultural communication. The significant role that artists play in transnational transfer processes is clearly reflected in their lives and work. Social status, market conditions, and the interests of clients outline the communication structures of an era. This scientifically grounded collection brings together for the first time about 100 prominent figures who lived during a time of diverse social changes in the countries ruled by the Jagiellonian dynasty, including Poland-Lithuania, Bohemia with Moravia, Silesia and Lusatia, as well as Hungary with Croatia and Dalmatia. Some artists from neighboring countries, whose work had a lasting impact across Central Europe, have also been included. It aims to serve as a small Vademecum for researchers and interested parties.
