What happens to migrant organizations when their members no longer see themselves as migrants after some time, but rather as full members of the society in which they live, and no longer place value on preserving the traditions of their culture of origin? Miriam Zimmer first engages with theoretically possible survival strategies of ethnically-religious organizations and then examines, through the empirical example of the Evangelical Church of the Lutheran Confession in Brazil (IECLB), which was initially founded as a German Protestant church, the strategies it employs to assert itself as an organization despite the loss of its traditional clientele. With her study, Miriam Zimmer makes an important contribution to the understanding of large organizations in crisis.
