A city dweller as a volunteer helper at over two thousand meters altitude on a South Tyrolean alpine pasture - can that go well? Instead of the longed-for peace, she encounters conflicts with the farmer and crowds of hikers on the dream path from Munich to Venice. The author allows us to peek into every window of the mountain hut. She portrays the residents and visitors with great sympathy, without idealizing life on the alpine pasture. It is turbulent and subtle, boisterous and quiet, as the helper is on the verge of giving up and leaving several times. Yet, with wit and courage, she masters every challenging situation. By the end of the alpine summer, Sibylle takes a piece of mountain nature with her, in exchange for a part of her heart.
