Product details

After the victory in the West over France in 1940 and the preemptive strike in 1941 against Stalin's aggressive Red Army, the bulk of the German Wehrmacht found itself in a fierce struggle in the vastness of Russia. To counter the threat of an Allied invasion in the West, the Organisation Todt began constructing a massive fortress along the coast, from the Spanish border to the shores of Norway. Over the years, deep-layered defensive positions were established to protect the Reich, including enormous bunkers for covering long-range and heavy artillery, radar installations for detecting enemy bomber streams, U-boat bunkers, flak positions, and much more. This sensational book features never-before-published contemporary color photographs in razor-sharp quality of structures in France, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, and Norway, documenting not only all the details of these defensive installations.
