Many authors use literature as a medium to initiate a processing of political hotspots, to illuminate and discuss them. Reality is processed through fiction. The literary engagement with terrorism following the events of September 11, 2001, focuses on the victims of attacks, the extent of destruction, and the sensational effect. However, the three novels by Updike, Peters, and Khadra take a different approach. They describe terrorism from the perspective of the perpetrator. At its core, this publication deals with the three works and will attempt to answer the question of whether a new genre can be identified: the assassin novel.
