The book is about my journey with a friend in an old VW bus at the end of 1971 along the Hippie Trail from Vienna to Bombay. India was at war with Pakistan, and we found ourselves near the front lines. Returning to peaceful Afghanistan was no longer possible; the land route was blocked for us. Many famous travelers had visited these countries before us, often under much more difficult circumstances than ours. They should accompany me in this account and tell how life was in these countries and cities in earlier centuries. But I had another concern. I wanted to know what the politicians and religions from these countries have made of things up to the present day, 2013. The results are not something to celebrate – to put it mildly.
