The Mystery of Music

On Christmas Eve in 1992, an organist from Naumburg discovers an unknown work by Bach in the decaying casing of the church organ. Kemper is thrown off course by this sensational find. The more the reclusive music researcher and organist analyzes the melodies, the more inexplicable it becomes. Soon he suspects that the score holds a secret: it is not just music, but has the power to evoke memories of the past, repressed feelings, and the future. Bach seemed to have discovered a kind of cosmic law at the end of his life, one that can either heal the human soul or plunge it into the deepest despair. As Kemper teeters between nightmares and euphoria, four experts from the Bach Society arrive. They oversee the restoration of the organ that Bach himself once played. Now Kemper must make a decision.
