The sermons of Augustine have so far received too little attention in the German-speaking world, despite their undoubtedly outstanding significance for understanding Augustinian theology and pastoral care, as well as serving as models of modern practical theology. In particular, there is a lack of translations and commentaries that make them accessible to contemporary readers. Here, for the first time, Sermons 6-12 are presented. The text printed en face reflects the fundamental edition of the Mauriners, with critical comparison to later editions and indication of deviations. The introductions and notes explain the necessary context and understanding of the texts: authenticity, transmission, chronology, textual criticism, structure, style, historical data, theology, and liturgy. A special emphasis is placed on demonstrating the biblical ideas contained within.
