What we see in the outside world is that lost part, that half that is missing for our wholeness; that rib, that shadow aspect that Adam lost from his completeness in paradise. This part, which we call the "shadow," must be reclaimed throughout our lives - through action, through living, through being in this world. Let us view the world as a symbol, life as a symbol. Let us understand that the Mayan reflections are there to teach us to see ourselves and thereby free ourselves by seeing through the forms. Then we achieve the goal of awareness, wholeness, and wakefulness. It is the archetypal path of humanity. In most fairy tales, this very path is outlined: there is always something enchanted, something cursed. Through the active deeds of the hero, through his journey, through his refusal to shy away from challenges.
