Count Friedrich von Berg (1794 - 1874), hailing from an old German noble family in the Baltic region, recounts in this work his journey from St. Petersburg in Russia to Poti, a port city on the Black Sea in Georgia. Berg undertook the journey in the mid-19th century by train. In letters, he describes his experiences, including his stay in Moscow and other cities, the intriguing events surrounding the trip, and the regions he traversed. With this unique travelogue, Friedrich von Berg has created an easily readable and very interesting work about an adventurous train journey from a historical era.
