The concept presented in this book fills a gap in the research on process-oriented real-time communication for reconfigurable production systems. Current real-time networks used in automation technology are characterized by high configuration efforts that arise during commissioning and after each reconfiguration. To enable "Plug and Produce" capable applications, it is essential to minimize these efforts as much as possible. This book describes the development of a method for the automatic configuration of current real-time networks used in automation technology. Specifically, the real-time networks Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Ethernet Powerlink, and Ethercat are considered. For these networks, the necessary information for commissioning is first examined. Building on this, the concept is further developed.
