For social work, the connection between trauma and substance use is particularly significant. Clients often exhibit dependency disorders, and the link between trauma and addiction seems obvious. However, the assertion of cause (trauma) and effect (substance dependence) is typically not followed by an explanation. This work elucidates possible connections between trauma and addiction based on various theses.
