German, Simon Schwartz, 2018Product details
100 years after the assassination of the royal family, the Angermuseum Erfurt will showcase the exhibition IKON starting May 17, 2018. This exhibition follows the Russian Gleb Botkin, who, as the son of the Tsar's personal physician, experiences the October Revolution and loses his closest confidante, the Tsar's daughter Anastasia. Years later, in American exile, the spiritually uprooted icon painter Botkin encounters a mentally ill woman who claims to be his lost Anastasia and asserts her right to the Russian throne. Botkin, who projects his entire soul onto this tragic figure, loses his footing once again and dedicates himself body and soul to his rediscovered icon. IKON is a narrative based on true events about loss, projection, and the love of two lost souls marked by the brutality of the 20th century.
