The era of the Alpine conqueror and warlord Hannibal is long gone, and the powerful city-state of Carthage is heading towards its downfall. The Third Punic War rages on, with the Roman legions under Consul Scipio besieging the city walls of Carthage for three years, starving the population. In these uncertain times, the land is made even more perilous by two unscrupulous rogues: Herodamus the Gaul and Berkan the Numidian. After a raid on a caravan from Utica, the two bandits come into possession of the beautiful and cunning Tara. She proposes a dangerous but lucrative deal to them. While the city of Carthage is on the brink of collapse, the treasure chambers of the Punic temples are still overflowing with gold. Tara is on her way there on behalf of the Thieves' Guild to steal the high priest's treasure. Herodamus and Berkan are quickly drawn into her scheme.
