Ikon follows the Russian Gleb Botkin, who, as the son of the Tsar's personal physician, witnesses the October Revolution and loses his closest confidante - the Tsar's daughter Anastasia. Years later, in American exile, the spiritually uprooted icon painter Botkin meets a mentally ill woman who claims to be his lost Anastasia and lays claim to the Russian throne. Botkin, who projects his entire soul onto this tragic figure, loses his footing once again and dedicates himself body and soul to his rediscovered icon. Ikon is a narrative based on true events about loss, projection, and the love of two lost souls marked by the brutality of the 20th century, 100 years after the murder of the royal family.
