Product details

Helena is famous for her wonderful baked goods, but she dreams of inventing a drink made from her favorite fruit, the barberry. Her desire to create a drink from these sour red berries, rather than focusing on her pastries, is met with misunderstanding, as it is perceived as deeply unfeminine. Ilaria, who always smells of oranges, was abandoned as a baby in a boat on the sea and rescued by a young swimmer. Yet in the waterside town, she always remains a stranger. The stories of Salome Benidze revolve around seven very different women, exploring themes of love and independence, passion and violence, fears and hopes, remembering and forgetting – and the search for one's own identity. The everyday and the fairy-tale, the realistic and the fantastical blur together, and gradually it becomes clear that the individual stories are interconnected.
