The term bullying has gained significant attention in Germany since the early 1990s. Many media outlets report on this targeted harassment and intimidation. Bullying often occurs only in the workplace, thus affecting the adult world. Unfortunately, in recent years, bullying has increasingly been observed among children and adolescents as well. Many wonder what bullying looks like in schools and what its effects are. The phenomenon, which was only vaguely recognized among students until recently, is difficult to identify. Parents may notice a child who is increasingly withdrawn and isolated, and they might face issues such as reluctance to attend school and active school refusal. In at least 50% of cases, the cause remains unclear, as children remain silent out of fear that they have no chance of improvement regarding the daily harassment in the classroom.
