While the occupation expenses for German-occupied territories in both World Wars are already listed in the standard catalog of German paper money "The German Banknotes of 1871" by Holger Rosenberg, the foreign notes that circulated in the occupied or dependent areas, as well as the banknotes issued under German influence, have hardly been addressed in the literature so far. The present catalog breaks new ground and fills an important gap in both German and international specialist literature. With its extensive introductions to each occupied area, it provides a historical context for the described banknotes. The necessary historical preparation that served as the basis for the cataloging not only allows for the correct classification of historical banknote issues but also opens up new horizons of understanding and clarifies connections.
