The present book, which has also been completely translated into English, deals with both the history and the historical backgrounds of the Schützentaler and Schützenmedaillen of Switzerland. Over 2500 talers and medals from the beginnings in the early 17th century up to the year 1960 have been detailed and mostly illustrated. From engraved one-off pieces to medals with a mintage of several thousand copies, all items have been supplemented with a rarity indication as well as two evaluations for the conditions "vz-unz / AU53" and "FDC / MS64". As a novelty, the market availability of the more common pieces has been determined for the first time, allowing collectors to assess how common or rare a corresponding medal truly is today.
