Concrete floors for production and storage halls are generally among the most heavily used components of a building. Nevertheless, concrete floors are often not sufficiently considered during the planning phase and are inadequately prepared for their intended use. The significant economic impacts that can arise from the failure of the hall floor due to interruptions and disturbances in operations or production downtime are often underestimated. To clarify the technically and economically feasible requirements of the client for the intended use during the planning phase, a classification for concrete floors is necessary. This allows for the assignment of the concrete floor to the appropriate class. Such classification enables the construction task to be addressed in a way that the required properties of the concrete floor can be clearly defined, allowing for a decision by the client. The subsequent performance specification forms the basis for the later execution, with particular emphasis on the planning of low-joint or joint-free construction methods.
