Based on and building upon joint results in teaching and research at the Chair of Building Construction III - Building Physics and Building Damage Issues at the R.-W. Technical University of Aachen, the authors of the book, as architects, specialized engineers in building physics, and experts, have gathered experiences in the fields of building physics and building construction, which are included in this book. The results of their work have been disseminated through publications and continuing education seminars for practicing architects. The content of the book is divided into main sections: thermal protection, water vapor diffusion and deformation, lighting and sun protection, room acoustics, and sound insulation. Starting from the planning tasks of architects, fundamental considerations are made in each section, and the resulting construction and planning recommendations are presented.
