Iran and Germany, politics and love, home and foreignness are the thematic poles around which SAID's life and work revolve. The poem cycle "Be Night to Me" is entirely dedicated to one of these poles, that of love. In expressive, mostly short poems and in a concise language, SAID unfolds the love relationship between the lyrical male I and his beloved – a relationship that also includes a nameless third party, who knows nothing of this love yet still steps in. It is a love relationship that encompasses many facets and sensual moments between its beginning and end, which the poet masterfully captures in expressive, sensitive images.
