Product details
Immanuel Kant wrote his famous essay in 1784 for the Berlin Monthly, where a heated discussion about the content and objectives of the Enlightenment had been taking place for about a year. With the famous opening sentence "Enlightenment is the emergence of man from his self-imposed immaturity," Kant formulated the definition of Enlightenment that remains valid to this day, marking the true beginning of modernity. In addition to the essay, the volume includes the texts "Idea for a Universal History with a Cosmopolitan Intent" and "What Does It Mean to Orient Oneself in Thinking?", which are also central to the Enlightenment.
