This biblical study, developed from university teaching practice, offers a comprehensive insight into the Hebrew Bible and thus into the foundational text of Jewish and Christian culture. The respective characteristics, concepts, and main themes of the biblical books are presented in a concise manner. Additionally, the process of creation as well as the Jewish and Christian history of reception of the individual writings of this book of books are explained. For the first time, Jewish and Christian receptions and influences are addressed equally. As the original text to which the Talmud and Midrash, the Kabbalah, classical Jewish philosophy, and cultic Jewish traditions refer, as well as the New Testament, the Church Fathers, Christian mystics, dogmatics, and cults, the multifaceted chorus of Jewish and Christian thought finds its foundational form in the Bible.
