This volume brings together eighteen contributions by the author, some of which are published for the first time, spanning two decades. All aim to illuminate and expose the ideological foundations of political action in the Third Reich. The crude thought patterns of leading figures of the regime are examined, as well as the guiding principles and key concepts of the practices it executed—foremost among them race and space, empire and national community. Additionally, significant contours of the intellectual landscape of its opponents and victims are highlighted, with a focus on the reflections of resistant behavior in the literary and academic milieu between 1933 and 1945. In this way, a multifaceted kaleidoscope of totalitarian profiles emerges—both the image and the counter-image of an era whose traces of fate extend to this day.
