His books—including "Shah of Shahs" about the revolution in Iran, "The Soccer War" about El Salvador and Honduras, and "Imperium" about the collapse of the Soviet Union—have been translated into over 20 languages. Encounters with Che Guevara and the Congolese rebel Patrice Lumumba paved the way for his fame, but many of these events, as Artur Domosławski impressively demonstrates in his widely discussed biography, were fabricated.
