Product details

Adolf Muschg, born in 1934, grew up in a small teacher's apartment on the Zurich Gold Coast, among wealthy people. His father, a strict Pietist, recognizes only one authority to which he subjects his entire family: the Reformed Bible. After his death, the much younger, depressive mother lives in close symbiosis with her son. The boy has a fantasy of rescue that helps him endure: to become a writer. However, he first becomes a teacher at a high school in Zurich, then a lecturer in Japan, and later a professor at ETH Zurich. By this time, his debut novel "In the Summer of the Hare" has also been published, following critiques and essays. Today, Muschg is one of the most important German-speaking writers and a European intellectual, a recipient of the Büchner Prize ("The Red Knight"), and remains ever-present with his narrative and essayistic work. This is the biographical portrait by Manfred D.
