About the Work

In August 2014, the German Insurance Association (GDV) published new non-binding sample conditions for professional and business liability insurance. The new conditions represented a fundamental reform in the design of the clause framework for this insurance sector. The new conditions aim to meet the need for transparency and comprehensibility and are intended to eliminate the coexistence of conditions for general liability insurance (AHB) and individual conditions and tariff structures in the foreseeable future. The new General Terms and Conditions for Business and Professional Liability Insurance (AVB BHV), which are the subject of this commentary work, therefore include a General Part that is identical to that of Private Liability Insurance (AVB PHV) and the conditions for property insurance.
