Product details

Three brothers were responsible for transforming the small Berlin "Telegraph Construction Company of Siemens & Halske" into a global firm alongside their partner Johann Georg Halske from the mid-19th century: Werner, Wilhelm, and Carl von Siemens. Martin Lutz presents the first biography of the youngest of the three brothers, simultaneously providing a vividly written early history of the Siemens company. "I seem to have been created by nature for great enterprises, for wherever I have gone, great things have always emerged," Carl wrote to Werner in 1888. Indeed, he was instrumental in establishing the international telegraph business of Siemens & Halske. In Paris, the 23-year-old founded the company's first subsidiary outside Germany in 1852. Three years later, the Russian telegraph construction industry was set to develop significantly under his leadership.
