Bruno Daldossi is a successful photographer who specializes in working in crisis and war zones. After many years of photographing in Chechnya, Iraq, Sudan, and Afghanistan for the Hamburg magazine Estero, he now only sporadically embarks on his dangerous missions in his early sixties. However, when his long-time partner Marlis, a zoologist with whom he lives in Vienna, leaves him for another man, the hardened man completely loses his footing.
